The West Central Initiative is accepting applications for its Resiliency Fund Grants to respond to the immediate COVID-19 needs of their region and the long-term recovery of west central Minnesota.

Details:

The current grant round retains emphasis on pandemic response and recovery, while refining the focus to efforts in two crucial areas: sustainability and equity.

Sustainable Region: Resiliency Fund Sustainable Region Grants are intended to support nonprofits with a focus on sustainability solutions in their response to and recovery from the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic.

  • They’ll prioritize applications that:
    • Are being led by or are serving Black people, Indigenous people, and/or people of color.
    • Specifically focus on building a local sustainable food system, sustainable agricultural practices, catalyzing climate-conscious work, and projects in line with the Building Economic Resilience through Clean Energy and Equity in Minnesota Report

Equitable Region: Resiliency Fund Equitable Region Grants are intended to support BIPOC (Black people, Indigenous people, and people of color) -led and/or serving nonprofits in their response to and recovery from the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Funding Information

  • Sustainable Region: They suggest grant requests be between $5,000 and $10,000. They may award a grant of up to $25,000 based on scope, need, and impact. The project timeline may extend to two years.
  • Equitable Region: They suggest grant requests be between $3,000 and $10,000. They may award a grant of up to $25,000 based on scope, need, and impact. The project timeline may extend to two years.

Eligibility Criteria

  • Sustainable Region
    • To be eligible for a Resiliency Fund Sustainable Region Grant, your organization must:
      • Be a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, school, or unit of government (including Tribal government or division) or must be fiscally sponsored by another organization with this status.
      • Serve people in West Central Initiative’s geography, which includes nine counties: Becker, Clay, Douglas, Grant, Otter Tail, Pope, Stevens, Traverse, and Wilkin and the portion of the White Earth Nation in Becker County.

They will consider only one application per organization.

  • Equitable Region
    • To be eligible for a Resiliency Fund Sustainable Region Grant, your organization must:
      • Be a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, school, or unit of government (including Tribal government or division) or must be fiscally sponsored by another organization with this status.
      • Serve people in West Central Initiative’s geography, which includes nine counties: Becker, Clay, Douglas, Grant, Otter Tail, Pope, Stevens, Traverse, and Wilkin and the portion of the White Earth Nation in Becker County.
      • Be BIPOC-led and/or serving.

They are particularly interested in receiving applications from small nonprofits that do not typically pursue or receive grant funding. They will consider only one application per organization.
