The fund supports programs operated by small nonprofits, veterinarians, and veterinary students to improve the welfare of domestic and wild animals as important links to culture and ecology, in alignment with the Fund’s mission: “Strive to strengthen the human animal bond by promoting education of veterinarians, veterinary technicians and the public on animal and public health and supporting efforts to improve animal health and welfare.
Types of Funding
The SVVMA Fund will accept proposals for:
- Materials, Supplies and Non-veterinary Services
- Examples include:
- Pet food o Pet Supplies
- Farriers o Animal welfare supplies (blankets, litter, formula)
- Wildlife food and supplies, Etc.
- Examples include:
- Equipment
- Examples include:
- Incubator
- Crates, cages, traps, Etc.
- Examples include:
- Education and Outreach
- Examples include:
- Programs that promote the human/animal bond
- Examples include:
The SVVMA Fund will not accept proposals for:
- Salaries for organizations
- Annual fund campaigns, fundraising events
- Capital campaigns
- Gifts to endowments
- Deficit funding
- Direct assistance to individuals
- Conferences
Additionally, grants may not be used for:
- Political advocacy
- Legislative policy efforts, or to promote particular religious and/or spiritual beliefs.
Funding Information
The maximum amount grantees may apply for is up to $1,500.
Eligibility Criteria
To be eligible for consideration, submissions must meet the following criteria:
- Service area must be within the geographical area covered by the Sacramento Region Community Foundation: Sacramento, Yolo, El Dorado, and Placer counties.
- Maintain tax-exempt status under Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code or be fiscally-sponsored by an organization that meets this requirement.
