Details:
The dual purpose of this project is to:
- Evaluate current policies, procedures, activities, awareness, and interest of the statewide agency, and its affiliates, to prevent youth gambling.
- Plan and implement activities that will increase awareness, interest and/ or readiness to prevent youth gambling on the statewide and affiliate levels.
Project Goals: Build Capacity and Readiness to Prevent Youth Gambling across New York State
- As defined by SAMHSA, “capacity involves building resources and readiness to address the priority problem and its associated factors.” Community readiness has been defined as how prepared a community is to address a specific issue – in this case, that issue is youth gambling.
- Youth gambling prevention efforts and resources have been effective in reaching audiences to increase awareness about the importance of preventing youth gambling. That said, few efforts have been focused on meeting local needs to build capacity via a statewide, top-down approach to building capacity.
Funding Information
Contracted statewide agencies (hence forth referred to as subcontractors) will be paid $25,000.00 following the completion of all project requirements.
Eligibility Criteria
Eligible applicants must be the following:
- Entities who are tax exempt.
- Entities based in New York State.
- Entities who deliver statewide services.
- Entities who are considered a statewide agency.
- Entities who have the capacity to carry out the grant requirements.
- Entities who have an interest in preventing youth gambling and the capacity to do so.
