UMass Lowell is seeking ideas and projects that expand access, tools, and learning opportunities so all members of their community can fully participate in the digital world.
Ideas could include a mobile app, software, a service, a product, a new program, or other technology that leads to increased digital capacity for residents of Essex County.

- Winners of the Digital Equity Challenge will share $10,000 in cash prizes to further their project.
- In addition, there will be several additional benefits from our partners including:
- Admission into the next EforAll Lowell/Lawrence business accelerator program
- A six-month membership to the UMass Lowell Innovation Hub Haverhill
- Top teams will also receive priority consideration for the Essex County Community Foundation Digital Equity grant program – which will allow grant funding of up to $20,000 per project.
Criteria
- Teams of all ages are invited to apply, including high school and college students. Professionals, organizations, and non-profits are also invited to apply.
- Applicants should include two or more individuals who can demonstrate they have the skills and background to launch their idea.
- Ideas, projects, and solutions should address needs in Essex County and be targeted for one or more of the cities and towns in the county.
