Submit Applications for United Way of Central Indiana Pitch Contest

Dated: February 20, 2023

Are you a nonprofit in Central Indiana looking or resources to scale your next big idea? If yes, then apply for the United Way of Central Indiana pitch contest.

Donor Name: United Way of Central Indiana

State: Indiana

County: Selected Counties

Type of Grant: Contest

Deadline: 02/27/2023

Size of the Grant: $30,000

Details:

Propel is an opportunity to highlight innovative initiatives and approaches that address fundamental challenges regarding basic needs and opportunities for families. This is an opportunity to launch a new idea or expand a current initiative to better outcomes. Often times, it can be difficult to find the resources necessary to launch new initiatives and Propel is an opportunity to receive support without the pressure that can accompany traditional funding streams.

At Propel, human services organizations will pitch their ideas on how to reduce barriers for those from under-resourced communities or asset-limited backgrounds. The event is open to nonprofits serving residents in Boone, Hamilton, Hancock, Hendricks, Marion, Morgan or Putnam counties.

Nonprofits interested in winning funding from United Way of Central Indiana by showcasing their innovative ideas can now apply to compete at an April pitch contest.

Funding Information

A $30,000 award presented by United Way will be selected by a panel of judges, a $50,000 award presented by Audiochuck will be chosen by the media company and an audience-choice winner of at least $5,000 will be voted on by the public. Finalists will receive $2,000.

Criteria

Any 501(c)3 serving residents in Boone, Hamilton, Hancock, Hendricks, Marion, Morgan or Putnam counties is eligible for this opportunity to highlight your project/idea and win funding.

Judging criteria

Submissions will be judged on how well each entry can fully answer the following questions:

  • How effectively does your initiative target those from under-resourced communities?
  • Does your initiative align with one of UWCI’s focus areas?
  • Have you adequately identified the challenge?
  • Have you presented a solution that adequately addresses the challenge you have identified?
  • Is this initiative taking a new approach to addressing the identified challenge?
  • Do you demonstrate passion and enthusiasm for the challenge and initiative?

What are initiatives that will not be considered?

  • Housing Access: lease-to-purchase programs, mortgage down payments, or funds for an organization to purchase/develop housing.
  • Food Access: Snacks for clients and operating food drives.
  • Health: directly funding sports teams (e.g. baseball or soccer teams).
  • Transportation: purchases of vehicles for clients.
  • System Improvement: Ongoing internal or program improvements or ongoing cross functional work of the organization.
