High-cost instructional materials pose barriers for student access to and success in higher education. The Online Course Affordable Instructional Materials Grant supports faculty who are interested in using Open Educational Resources (OER) in courses that are included in the general education program at a public four-year university in Tennessee that have online sections.
Eligible activities include actions supporting the new or expanded use of OER materials in general education courses with online sections. Funding can be used to support the selection, adaptation, or creation of OER; instructional design or development necessary to facilitate OER use or expansion; copyediting, formatting, or updating OER materials to increase accessibility; design of supplementary materials and/or homework systems; nonrecurring technology expenses that support teaching with OER; or faculty training or professional development required by a shift to OER.
Funding Information
The maximum award amount is $20,000.
Eligibility Criteria
- Proposals will be accepted from faculty members who teach at public four-year universities in Tennessee.
- The grant will fund new or expanded use of OER in online, general education courses by individual faculty members, faculty teams, cross-institutional teams, or a department team.
- The project lead will be designated as the fiscal agent for any cross-institutional projects.
