The Foundation has identified several broad categories in which needs exist and for which grant requests are encouraged:

Funding Information
- The Allocations & Distribution Committee reserves the right to make grants up to a maximum of $12,500.
- Historically, the average grant falls between $4,000-$6,000.
Eligibility Criteria
The Community Foundation of Middle Tennessee will accept Discretionary Grant Applications for programs or projects from:
- Nonprofit organizations legally chartered in Tennessee and in possession of a determination letter from the Internal.
- Revenue Service declaring the organization a public charity that is exempt from federal income tax under Section 501(c)(3).
- Nonprofit Organizations must be headquartered in and serving the following Middle Tennessee counties: Bedford, Cannon, Cheatham, Clay, Coffee, Cumberland, Davidson, DeKalb, Dickson, Fentress, Franklin, Giles, Hickman, Houston, Humphreys, Jackson, Lawrence, Lewis, Lincoln, Macon, Marshall, Maury, Montgomery, Moore, Overton, Perry, Pickett, Putnam, Robertson, Rutherford, Smith, Stewart, Sumner, Trousdale, Van Buren, Warren, Wayne, White, Williamson, and Wilson.
- Organizations that are entities of government (i.e. libraries, schools, etc).
- Nondiscrimination Policy in Grantmaking: No person, on the basis of actual or perceived race, color, religion, national origin, sex, gender identity (as defined in paragraph 249(c)(4) of title 18, United States Code), sexual orientation, marital or parental status, political affiliation, military service, physical or mental ability, or any other improper criterion be excluded from participation in, be denied the benefits of, or be subjected to discrimination under any program or activity funded in whole or in part with funds made available by The Community Foundation of Middle Tennessee, and any other program or activity funded in whole or in part with funds appropriated for grants, cooperative agreements, and other assistance administered by the Foundation.
- Organizations with programs or projects scheduled to take place from December 1, 2022 through November 30, 2023.
