The Lyme Foundation was established in 1989 to fund projects and programs that help maintain and enhance the quality of life in Lyme, New Hampshire. The Lyme Foundation strives to further programs in the arts, education, public affairs, community development, historic resources, the environment, recreation, and social services.
Funding priority goes to requests in which a small amount of grant money will likely produce significant results. Grants will be evaluated on the following criteria. They realize that not all of these criteria are relevant to all grant applications. They also realize that successful applications do not necessarily have to meet all of these criteria. But they encourage applicants to keep these things in mind as they prepare their application.

- Addresses safety concerns in town.
- Is the applicant’s first request for funding.
- Qualifies for normal town funding (e.g., town budget funds).
- Identifies relevant stakeholders who might have concerns about the project (e.g., neighbors, town officials, the wider community).
- Requires town approval.
- Is consistent with the spirit of the Lyme Foundation’s mission.
