Details:

The Outdoor Recreation Industry Impact Fund (ORIIF) is a $1.8 million fund from the Coronavirus State and Local Fiscal Recovery Funds (SLFRF) program, a part of the American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA). This fund will support recovery efforts for outdoor industry small businesses and nonprofits that can demonstrate a negative economic impact due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The ORIIF will provide direct-to-organization grants for payroll needs not to exceed $100,000 per organization. The goal of the ORIIF is to allow outdoor recreation industry businesses and nonprofits to hire new and/or retain existing employees. Full-time and part-time positions are eligible to receive payroll assistance. Grants are provided on a reimbursement basis.

Funding Information

The maximum grant award an applicant may receive is based on need and will not exceed $100,000.

Eligible Expenses:

  • Payroll (salaries and benefits)
    • Please note that this funding cannot be used to provide pay raises to existing employees and pay ranges for new hires must be consistent with current organization pay ranges.

Eligibility Criteria

Outdoor recreation industry small businesses and nonprofits, located and registered in Colorado, and in good standing with the state, are eligible to apply for ORIIF. Additionally, applicants must comply with the following requirements:

  • The business or nonprofit has been impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic. This status will be self-certified by the applicants in the application form according to the following criteria:
    • The business or nonprofit experienced revenue declines and/or cost increases due to the negative economic effects of COVID-19 compared to pre-COVID-19 results or trends
  • The business has no more than 500 full-time employee equivalents (per State and Local Fiscal Recovery requirements)
  • If the applicant is a nonprofit, the applicant must be a designated 501(c)(3) or 501(c)(19) tax-exempt organization
  • The business or nonprofit serves the outdoor recreation industry:
    • For purposes of this grant, an outdoor recreation industry business or nonprofit is defined as an organization that supports recreational activities undertaken for pleasure that occur outdoors
