The programs funded by this process align with needs identified in local Community Health Needs Assessments and with United Way Worldwide goals. Basic needs grants are funded through a different application process and are not reviewed at this time.
To achieve their goals, United Way of Greater Fall River will focus their resources on a limited set of investment areas where organizations can make the greatest impact and contribute to significant outcomes in the lives of the individuals in their community.
Objectives
United Way of Greater Fall River provides four funding opportunities throughout the fiscal year:
- Allocations – closed application process preapproved by the Board
- Impact Grants – open to any 501c3 non-profit agency in their service area
- Food Grants (open to any 501c3 non-profit food distribution partner in their service area)
- Special Initiatives (flexible funding identified by community needs)
Duration
All programs must be run within FY23 (July 1, 2023 to June 30, 2024).
Eligibility Criteria
- 501c3 nonprofit agencies within the United Way of Greater Fall River (UWGFR) service area are invited to apply for Impact Grant funding. Their service area includes Fall River, Westport, Assonet, Somerset, Swansea, Tiverton, and Little Compton.
- United Way of Greater Fall River will consider one (1) funding request per agency, up to $10,000. Agencies that utilize a common fiscal agent are welcome to apply.
- All programs must demonstrate deep impact on individuals and families. Applicants are encouraged to use data to demonstrate the need for the program in the community.
- Impact Grants must align with United Way of Greater Fall River’s pillars of focus: Health, Education & Financial Stability.
- Special consideration will be given to programs that help build capacity, target underserved populations and BIPOC individuals, and promote racial equity.
- Agencies should consider the UWGFR and United Way Worldwide Impact Goals and Racial Equity Strategies in their program submission.
Grant Exclusions
United Way of Greater Fall River does not award Impact Grant1 funding to:
- Individuals or stipends given directly to individuals
- Endowment funds
- Capital projects or improvements
- Fundraising and/or events
- Debt or existing obligations
- Organizations or programs designed to elect candidates to public office
- Programs located outside of their service area
