The Virginia Tourism Corporation is offering these grant funds to spur economic activity and travel across the Commonwealth to support small businesses and drive shoulder season visitation (September 2023 to May 2024).
PLEASE NOTE: This application cycle for the VTC Microbusiness Marketing Leverage Program differs from past VTC Marketing Leverage Program applications. Below is a quick overview of the changes:
- Different online application than in the past.
- Two funding tiers:
- $5,000 max award for tourism-oriented small businesses with less than 20 full-time employees. Part-time and seasonal employees do not count toward this cap, but that information is collected in the application.
- $10,000 max award for VTC-recognized Destination Marketing Organizations (DMOs), Virginia Main Street Organizations, Chambers of Commerce that engage in tourism marketing, Planning District Commissions that engage in tourism marketing, localities that engage in tourism marketing, and downtown merchant or other tourism oriented small business organizations that engage in tourism marketing.
Eligibility Criteria
Small tourism-related business with 20 or fewer full-time equivalent employees including boutique retail, restaurants, food trucks, small attractions, craft breweries, distilleries, wineries, boutique lodging and B&Bs, and events focused on shoulder season visitation.
Additional eligibility
DMOs and NGOs, such as PDCs and Main Street organizations, may apply but the application must support microbusinesses and/or shoulder season visitation with a robust marketing plan.
