Award Criteria
The BBB has distilled the deliberate focus on trust and ethics into four C’s: Character, Culture, Customers, and Community. These criteria outline the leadership’s character, the fostering of an authentic culture, the organization’s prioritization of customer relationships, and the impact made in the community.
Eligibility Criteria
To be eligible for the Torch Award, organizations must meet the following criteria and maintain them throughout the process:
- Be in business for a minimum of 3 years.
- Have headquarters located within BBB Serving Northern Colorado and Wyoming’s service area.
- Maintain good standing with BBB. For businesses, this requires achieving and maintaining a “B” or higher rating and having no unresolved complaints.
- Nonprofits must meet BBB’s 20 Standards for Charity Accountability prior to applying.
- Past BBB Torch Award for Ethics winners in the business category are eligible to re-apply if it has been at least five years since last winning the award.
- Past BBB Torch Award for Ethics winners in the nonprofit category are not eligible to re-apply at this time.
