In recognition of America Recycles Day, November 15th, the Dutchess County Division of Solid Waste Management invites K-12 students from across Dutchess County to take part in the America Recycles Day Art Challenge! Students can create a work of art made from recyclable materials. A winner and runner-up will be selected for each of the following age groups:
- Kindergarten – 2nd Grade
- 3rd Grade – 5th Grade
- 6th Grade – 8th Grade
- 9th Grade – 12th Grade
Eligibility Criteria
This challenge is open to all school-aged students in Dutchess County. Students may submit artwork on an individual basis or through their teacher as part of an in-school project. Artwork can be created at home or in school.
How do you participate?
- ALL school-aged children are invited to participate! Submissions can be a project that is worked on independently at home or incorporated as a classroom project.
- The piece can be 2D or 3D, and students will be permitted to use non-recyclable materials such as glue, tape, paint, crayons, etc. as long as the actual art piece is from recyclable materials.
- 2D artwork must not exceed a 24 x 30-inch frame; 3D artwork must not exceed 3 x 3 ft. base and 3 ft. high.
- Entrants must provide a short description of the piece, including items that were used, what the piece is of, or represents, and a title.
- Entrants must provide a photo of the piece and include dimensions in email submission; up to 4 photos may be provided with each piece.
