Tarrant City Youth Football Aims for Nationals with Community Support

Dated: November 16, 2024

Tarrant City Youth Football is on a mission to raise funds for their upcoming trip to the national championships in Wellington, Florida. Currently ranked third in the nation, the team is seeking community support to cover travel and lodging expenses for this prestigious event.

Key Takeaways

  • Tarrant City Youth Football is raising $10,000 for nationals.
  • The team ranks third in the nation and competes in the 11U age group.
  • The competition will take place from December 2-8 in Wellington, Florida.
  • Community support is crucial for the team’s success.

The Journey to Nationals

The Tarrant City Ducks, representing the Tarrant City Youth Football program, have made significant strides this season. With a current ranking of third in the nation, the team is gearing up for a chance to compete against top teams from Georgia, Florida, and Mississippi. The upcoming national championship is scheduled for December 2-8 in Wellington, Florida.

Curtis White Jr., the commissioner of the program, expressed the importance of this opportunity for the young athletes. "To compete and get an invite to something of this magnitude, it’s special to the team," he stated. This event represents a unique chance for the players to showcase their skills on a larger stage.

Community Support Needed

To make this dream a reality, the team is aiming to raise $10,000. This funding will cover essential travel and lodging expenses for the players and coaching staff. The community’s involvement is vital, as many of these young athletes may never have the opportunity to participate in such a significant event again.

"We just want everyone’s support, whether it’s donations or whatever," White added. The team has set up various avenues for contributions, including a GoFundMe page and a Cash App account.

Home Field Advantage

In addition to their fundraising efforts, the Tarrant City Youth Football program has recently celebrated a milestone by securing a home field. After years of playing at Carver High School, the team can now host games at the newly renovated Tarrant High School football field. Scott Evans, the director of parks and recreation for the City of Tarrant, shared his excitement about this development. "It’s been hectic, but it’s been fulfilling because for four years we played at Carver High School, so we didn’t have a field to play on. Now we do, and this is the first time we’ve played in Tarrant. To be able to play home games inside the city of Tarrant is awesome."

The Players’ Perspective

The players are equally enthusiastic about the support they receive from the community. Running back Christopher Bozeman Jr. expressed his gratitude, saying, "It feels good. I like the support of fans when they come out to support the Tarrant City Ducks." This sense of community pride and encouragement is crucial for the team’s morale as they prepare for the national competition.

Conclusion

As the Tarrant City Ducks prepare for their national championship journey, the call for community support is more important than ever. With a goal of $10,000, the team is hopeful that local residents will rally behind them, ensuring that these young athletes have the chance to compete at the highest level. The upcoming competition not only represents a significant achievement for the team but also a moment of pride for the entire Tarrant community.
