The World Literacy Foundation is calling all young change-makers! Become a WLF Ambassador and join forces with like-minded individuals from over 110 countries to make a difference in the fight against illiteracy.

Details:

The World Literacy Foundation runs a free global program to train and encourage youth individuals to become literacy advocates and generate change in their communities. The ambassador program is an incredible platform to interact, share and strengthen togetherness with other like-minded people determined to eradicate illiteracy worldwide.

The program is divided into different modules. Those admitted to the program are expected to complete a final report to become WLF Ambassadors and join a network of 1500 youth in +110 countries. In 2023, WLF Ambassadors candidates will have to complete a fundraising activity to graduate from the program.

By joining the program, Ambassadors are expected to commit to the World Literacy Foundation’s mission and become literacy promoters in their communities and countries for many years to come.

  • Be a voice in your community
    • Ambassadors will speak at their school, university, media or community group to raise awareness and advocate for literacy.
  • Support the education of vulnerable children
    • Ambassadors will raise funds to support one of the literacy programs of the World Literacy Foundation.
  • Develop your leadership and advocacy skills
    • Ambassadors will receive training to learn how to get others involved in their cause and make a greater impact to help eradicate illiteracy.

What is expected from WLF ambassadors?

  • To be an active advocate and fundraiser for the World Literacy Foundation.
  • To engage weekly with the organization through social media, events (virtual), and campaigns.
  • To provide content for the monthly newsletter and communicate with other WLF Ambassadors
  • To represent the organization in events (virtual or in their communities) and report back to the Program Coordinator.
  • To volunteer hours, if needed, to complete specific tasks in any of the World Literacy Foundation’s projects.

Eligibility Criteria

  • They are looking for young people that meet the following criteria:
    • Be 16-30 years old.
    • Have a deep passion for literacy, human rights and social causes
    • Wants to join a community of Change-Makers
    • Have access to a computer/smartphone and internet connection
    • Have the availability to contribute 30 hours of service across the 3 months to complete the program
    • Be able to join monthly webinars
    • Be able to take part in fundraising activity for the organization
