Dated: January 10, 2023

Nominations are now open for the “The Earthshot Prize” 2023.

Donor Name: The Earthshot Prize

Country: Global

Type of Grant: Prize

Deadline: 01/31/2023

Details:

The Earthshot Prize’s Nominators are selected for their ability to identify the most impactful solutions to the five Earthshots. They look for organisations united by their common aim – repairing and regenerating the planet. They represent not-profit, foundations, investment, corporate, academic, governmental and community led organisations.

Working alongside their network of Nominators, they scour the globe for breakthrough solutions that can solve the biggest environmental challenges, whilst mentoring the inspirational innovators behind them to accelerate their impact.

    • Efforts to develop and scale regenerative agriculture
  • Clean the Air
    • Engaging citizens in data collection and advocacy

  • Fix the Climate
    • Renewable energy for all
    • Reducing methane emissions
    • Constructing buildings fit for the future

Prize Details

  • Five winners will be selected by The Earthshot Prize Council and announced at their next Awards Ceremony, where they will receive a one-of-a-kind award and a £1m grant to scale the impact of their winning solution.
  • Both the Winners and Finalists will join their year-long Fellowship Programme where they are given an incredible platform to amplify their work, as well as tailored support from The Earthshot Prize and their network of NGOs, businesses, governments, funders and mentors.

Eligibility Criteria

  • They accept solutions from any country or sector in the world. This could be:
    • An individual (such as a leader or an activist)
    • A team or small group of individuals
    • An organisation (not-for-profit or for-profit)
    • A public sector body/government (including a country or city)
    • A partnership/consortium of more than one organization
  • The Earthshot Prize team will then select 15 solutions as Finalists – three for each Earthshot.

Nomination Screening

  • All nominations undergo a rigorous screening and assessment process before they select their five winners of The Earthshot Prize.
  • The process prioritises solutions that have moved beyond ideation, those that have working prototypes or proven effectiveness and those that are ready to be scaled at speed.
  • Nominations are assessed in terms of the inspiring stories behind them, their inclusivity, their equity and benefits for humankind. They assess them based on the impact they can have on the Earthshots and the ability of this impact to be scaled.
