The Golf Environment Awards recognize industry professionals who dedicate time and energy to protecting and enhancing the environment.

The Golf Environment Awards are managed and administered by STRI Group, and each entry is independently judged, not on the scale of project nor their financial investment, but on what the golf course has achieved and how it’s achievements have benefited the surrounding environment and local ecology.

Categories

  • International Environmental Golf Club of the Year
    • Awarded to an international club that demonstrates efficient management across each of the following areas: Nature Conservation Management, Turfgrass Management, Waste Management, Water Management.
  • UK Environmental Golf Club of the Year
    • Awarded to a UK golf club that brilliantly demonstrates efficient management across each of the following areas: Nature Conservation Management, Turfgrass Management, Waste Management, Water Management.
  • Sustainable Project of the Year Award
    • Awarded to golf clubs who have implemented a successful sustainable project, with clear objectives and targets that contribute to a better environment and are making sound progress in fulfilling the goals of the project.
  • Ecological Project of the Year Award
    • Awarded to golf clubs who have implemented a successful ecological project, with clear objectives and targets that contribute to a better environment and are making sound progress in fulfilling the goals of the project.
  • Conservation Champion Award
    • Awarded to outstanding individuals who make significant contributions to the success of the clubs environmental and ecological management and hence make a fundamental positive impact on the surrounding landscape and biodiversity.
  • Operation Pollinator Award
    • Awarded to golf clubs who consistently deliver outstanding ecological habitat creation and management.

  • A £750 grant to invest into environmental and ecological projects at your club
  • Trophy for the winner of each category
  • Entry to the Foundation Award in Amenity Horticulture course, (BASIS recognised)

Eligibility Criteria

  • Entry is free and open to all golf clubs and courses, no matter what size or type, anywhere in the world. Every golf course has an equal chance of winning an award – the judging is based solely on your environmental focus and projects.
  • A winner for each of the six categories is announced at a glittering ceremony in January, held Harrogate at the same time as BTME. The winning golf clubs and runners-up receive considerable publicity in national and regional media in addition to their individual prizes.
