PSEG Foundation Marks 10 Years of Community Support with $8 Million in Grants

Dated: December 16, 2024

The PSEG Foundation recently celebrated a decade of impactful community service through its Neighborhood Partners Program (NPP), announcing nearly $8 million in grants awarded to over 400 nonprofit organizations across New Jersey and New York. The event highlighted the foundation’s commitment to fostering social equity, environmental sustainability, and economic empowerment.

Key Takeaways

  • 10-Year Anniversary: The PSEG Foundation commemorated ten years of the Neighborhood Partners Program, which has significantly contributed to community development.
  • Record Grants: In 2024, the program saw an 11% increase in applications and awarded $1.2 million in grants, a 20% increase from the previous year.
  • Diverse Impact: The NPP has supported over 400 nonprofits, addressing critical issues in 14 counties.

The celebration took place at PSEG’s General Office in Newark, where representatives from more than 100 nonprofits gathered to share their success stories and the transformative impact of the NPP. Calvin Ledford Jr., President of the PSEG Foundation, emphasized the program’s role in empowering communities and addressing socio-economic challenges.

"In ten years, the Neighborhood Partners Program has not only awarded millions in grants but has stood alongside hundreds of community-led organizations to create lasting change throughout New Jersey. NPP now serves as a role model for other funders who also seek to be catalysts for progress at the neighborhood level," Ledford stated.

Notable Grantees

The event showcased several key organizations that have benefited from the NPP:

  1. HomeFront: A long-time partner, HomeFront has provided essential services to over 25,500 residents, including food and housing support. This year’s grant helped sustain their Food Pantry Program, delivering over 1 million meals to families in need.
  2. Boys & Girls Club of Newark: With over $600,000 in support from PSEG, this organization has enriched the lives of thousands through STEM education and family support programs. CEO Ameer Washington highlighted the critical role of PSEG’s support during the COVID-19 pandemic.
  3. Northern NJ Community Foundation: This foundation utilized NPP funding to develop the Green Infrastructure for Environmental Justice Program, addressing environmental concerns and promoting community-led initiatives.

Looking Ahead

As the PSEG Foundation enters its next decade, it remains dedicated to adapting the Neighborhood Partners Program to meet the evolving needs of communities. The foundation aims to deepen its impact and continue fostering partnerships that promote sustainability and equity.
