Renowned Cardiac Surgeon Joseph F. Sabik III Takes Helm as STS President

Joseph F. Sabik III, MD, a distinguished cardiac surgeon from the University Hospitals Harrington Heart & Vascular Institute, has been elected as the new president of The Society of Thoracic Surgeons (STS). His term commenced on January 26, 2025, during the STS 2025 annual meeting, marking a significant milestone in his over three-decade-long career in cardiothoracic surgery.

Previous Leadership

Jennifer C. Romano, MD, MS, a congenital heart surgeon and professor at the University of Michigan Medical School, served as the previous president.
