Through this program, state, territorial, local, and tribal governments can support law enforcement related activities including efforts to locate and investigate illicit activities related to the unlawful distribution of opioids; increase access to prevention programs and overdose reversal medications; and expand treatment and recovery support services in the community and within correctional facilities.
Goals
The goal of COSSUP is to reduce the impact of opioids, stimulants, and other substances on individuals and communities—including a reduction in the number of overdose fatalities—and to mitigate the impacts on crime victims by supporting comprehensive, collaborative initiatives.
- Objective 1: Increase access to and receipt of prevention, treatment, and recovery support services for individuals with substance use disorder in the community, in correctional settings, and upon reentry.
- Objective 2: Reduce overdose deaths.
- Objective 3: Support law enforcement-related efforts, including locating or investigating illicit activities related to the unlawful distribution of opioids to promote public safety.
