The following are representative but not exclusive examples of projects:
- Projects or programs directly relating to children’s issues, including children’s education, especially with an emphasis on preschool or elementary school children
- Educational programs that emphasize an appreciation of nature
- Summer day camps or other camping programs provided by organizations such as the Girl Scouts, Boy Scouts, YWCA and YMCA
- Projects that help children meet their needs for food, clothing, shelter, energy and/or health care, either in crisis and emergency situations or by planning for sustained stability
- Special projects or programs co-sponsored by organizations such as the Hartley Nature Center or other groups with strong interests in developing an appreciation of nature
- Special projects or programs co-sponsored by organizations such as the YMCA, the YWCA or other groups with strong interests in helping underprivileged children
- Nature activities or environmental awareness programs
- Educational materials such as books or day care center equipment for organizations such as the YWCA Child Care Center or the Benedictine Preschool
- Projects or programs for children with physical disabilities or visual impairments that improve quality of life, maximize self-sufficiency or foster integration into all aspects of life

Grants generally range from $1,000 to $5,000.
Eligibility Criteria
To be eligible to apply for funding, an organization must:
- Be classified as a charitable organization under Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code or classified as an organization under Section 170(c)(1) of the Internal Revenue Code or have a fiscal sponsor classified as a charitable organization under Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code or an organization under Section 170(c)(1) of the Internal Revenue Code.
- Be located in or provide service to residents in the Twin Ports area.
