The purpose of this grant program is to provide up to $5,000 in support for creative aging projects that:
To provide up to $5,000 in support for creative aging projects that:
- Employ a West Virginia teaching artist,
- Provide sequential programming to teach a new skill in the arts,
- Work with the same group of adults in each session
- Projects with a focus on the 55+ demographic will be given preference
- Have a culminating public event at the conclusion of the project.
- Projects teaching visual, literary, or performing arts will be eligible.
- The development of a new art skill and the social engagement of participants should be the primary focus of each project.
- Successful projects will have multiple sessions studying the same art form and end with a culminating event showcasing the skill acquired by participants. Culminating event must be open to the public.
- Projects specifically designed to provide rehabilitation from illness or injury will not be eligible.
