Grants are made to local charitable organizations and agencies with the expressed goal of improving the life of Nelson County residents. Education, scholarships, seniors, medical, dental, hunger, childcare, disabilities, refurbishing substandard housing are all areas where the NCCF has made positive, life-changing contributions. NCCF collects contributions from generous donors and raises funds through events such as the Opportunity Ball. NCCF also partners with local nonprofits, and businesses on fundraisers to address compelling issues in their county.
Each year the fund award more than $100,000 in grants to nonprofits that assist individuals with:
- Accessing preventive health care, dental & vision care, and prescription drugs
- Paying rent and utilities
- Combating child hunger and promoting fitness
- Preparing for and affording college
- Fighting substance abuse
- Repairing homes for the elderly and disabled
- Expanding environmental education and awareness
Eligibility Criteria
Grants are made to tax-exempt public charities under Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code and to government agencies. Grants are limited to projects in Nelson County. Grants are made without regard to factors of gender, race, religion, national origin, or sexual orientation.
