The goal of this Request for Applications (RFA) is to fulfill the Sustainable DC 2.0 Plan goals of educating 100% of children in the District on environmental and sustainability concepts. The high school students who participate in the Building Science Energy Education program will be empowered to contribute to a more sustainable and energy-efficient future.
The purpose of this grant is to design and implement a building science curriculum, create hands-on projects, and give District high school students the opportunity to engage with professionals in the energy and building industries. The funded project should promote science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) competencies, and critical thinking.
Funding Information
This is a multi-year grant, for $60,000. The project period will be the date of the grant award through September 30, 2025. Initially, $20,000 is allocated through the rest of FY24, ending on September 30, 2024, and $40,000 is allocated for FY25. Any funds unspent in FY24 will be carried over into FY25.
Eligibility Criteria
The following are eligible to apply:
- Nonprofit organizations, including those with IRS 501(c)(3) or 501(c)(4) determinations;
- Faith-based organizations;
- Government agencies;
- Universities/educational institutions; and
- Private Enterprises.
