Nominations Open for 2023 Young Environmentalist Awards (Delaware)

Dated: May 17, 2023

The Delaware Department of Natural Resources and Environmental Control is looking for Delaware students who are working to make a difference for the environment, and encouraging teachers, classmates, club or group leaders, family members and others to nominate these students for the 2023 DNREC Young Environmentalist of the Year Awards.

Donor Name: Delaware Department of Natural Resources and Environmental Control

State: Delaware

County: All Counties

Type of Grant: Award

Deadline: 06/30/2023

Details:

The award program is open to Delaware students in grades 1 through 12 whose actions have resulted in the protection, restoration or enhancement of their state’s natural resources.  Nominations must be based on actions or projects which have taken place between July 1, 2022 and June 30, 2023.

Now celebrating its 30th year, the Young Environmentalists program honors Delaware students whose actions and projects have involved one or more of the following: environmental stewardship, initiating an innovative project, increasing public awareness or demonstrating environmental ethics.

A winner will be chosen from each of the following categories: elementary (grades 1 to 4), middle school (grades 5 to 8), and high school (grades 9 to 12). Each category winner will receive a certificate, gift card and prize pack in recognition of his or her contribution to the community.

Eligibility Criteria

This contest is open to all legal residents of the State of Delaware. The contest is not open to DNREC employees or contractors. Judging and Selection of Honorees

  • Nominees will be judged in three age groups: grades 1 to 4, grades 5 to 8 and grades 9 to 12. Judges will be DNREC staff members including educators, scientists and other personnel.
  • DNREC has sole discretion over the selection of winners for each category. By entering this contest, nominees and their nominators waive any right they have to dispute or otherwise challenge DNREC’s selection of the winning entries.
