Focus Areas

This RFP is intended support long-term recovery efforts in the following areas as communities work to rebuild. The Emergency Action fund seeks proposals from organizations addressing housing stability and support, access to economic opportunities and/or environmental restoration and reforestation.

  • Housing Stability & Support may include, but is not limited to: supporting individuals and/or families in rebuilding and/or repairing homes affected by the wildfires
  • Access to Economic Opportunities may include, but is not limited to: innovative income opportunities for individuals and/or families whose primary source of income was lost due to the wildfires
  • Environmental Restoration & Reforestation may include, but is not limited to: intentional efforts directly supporting the environmental preservation, restoration and/or prevention of impacted lands

The Emergency Action Fund seeks proposals to support families affected by the 2022 New Mexico Wildfires throughout the state:

  • Calf Canyon/Hermits Peak Fire (San Miguel, Mora, Taos Counties)
  • Cooks Peak Fire (Mora, Colfax Counties)
  • Cerro Pelado Fire (Sandoval County)
  • McBride Fire (Lincoln County)
  • Water Fire (Grant County)
  • Skiles 429 (Union County)
  • Nogal Canyon Fire (Lincoln County)
  • Big Hole Fire (Valencia County)
  • Mitchell Fire (Harding County)
  • House Fire (Curry County)
  • Simona Fire (Valencia County)
  • Black Fire (Catron, Grant, Sierra Counties)
  • Bear Trap Fire (Socorro County)
  • Biggs Fire (Lincoln County)
  • Cerro Bandera Fire (Cibola County)
  • Foster Fire (Hidalgo County)
  • Deer Creek Fire (Hidalgo County)
  • Midnight Fire (Rio Arriba County)
  • Albuquerque Bosque Fire (Bernalillo County)
  • Cienegita Fire (Lincoln County)

Criteria

  • Organizations must hold 501c3 nonprofit status from the IRS.
  • Organizations may only submit one application.
  • Organizations that have already received a grant from the Emergency Action Fund in the first round of funding are eligible to apply.
  • Grants will range in award size, based on the scope of the work and available funding. Exact grant amounts will be determined during the application review process.
  • There is $180,000 total available in funding across all three focus areas.
  • This application will be considered separate from any other grant application submitted to participating funders. No information provided in this request will influence any additional funding decisions the partner funders may be considering from your organization this year.
  • Applications may be submitted for programs that are currently underway, but not completed. Funding may be used retroactively for partial programming.
  • Funding decisions will be announced May 9, 2023.
  • The EAF partners may share your request with other entities to increase access for more available funding.
