Eligible Projects
The Geographic Enrichment Cycle aims to attract requests that are focused on the people of and places in Charlevoix County’s individual communities. There are enrichment funds dedicated to Beaver Island, Boyne City, Charlevoix, and East Jordan. Organizations impacting more than one of the communities may be eligible to apply if the following conditions are met: the work will result in a deliverable to each community impacted, and the proposal indicates the estimated percentage of the work that will take place in each community impacted. Successful requests may include any of the following characteristics: demonstrate collaboration, address new needs or try new approaches for existing needs, encourage people to help themselves, focus on prevention of problems, and/or avoid duplication of services.
Geographic Enrichment grant proposals will additionally be evaluated on the following specific criteria:
- Organization’s impact and relevance in the community(ies) served
- Organizational capacity (leadership, staffing, planning, etc.), and solvency
- Degree to which funds will help strengthen the organization and/or the community the organization serves
- Comprehensiveness of proposal, including degree to which proposed activities are wellplanned and address the need identified
- Duration of impact in the community served
Grant Duration
The grant period is one year.
Eligibility Criteria
Eligible applicants include:
- 501(c)(3) tax-exempt nonprofit organizations
- All units of government
- All educational institutions (preschool through college)
- Organizations described above that serve Charlevoix County residents
- Organizations that do not discriminate in hiring of staff or the provision of services
The grants are generally not funded
The Community Foundation’s grant cycles generally do not fund annual fundraising campaigns, political campaigns, deficit spending, sectarian projects, or services normally supported by tax dollar.
