City of Knoxville Community Agency Grants (Tennessee)

Dated: January 25, 2023

The City of Knoxville is now accepting applications from local non-profit organizations for grant funding available through the Community Agency Grant (CAG) Program.

Donor Name: City of Knoxville

State: Tennessee

City: Knoxville

Type of Grant: Grant

Deadline: 02/23/2023

Grant Duration: 12 months

Details:

The Council has approved more than $5.3 million in CAG funding to support dozens of arts & culture partners, non-profit service providers, youth-serving organizations, and other local partners that serve and connect Knoxville residents.

Applying agencies must operate within Knoxville city limits, be certified as a nonprofit for a minimum of five years, and be registered as a charitable organization with Tennessee Secretary of State or have a current exemption.

CAG funding has two categories

  • Arts and Culture and
  • Community and Social Services.

Arts and Culture includes museums, arts organizations, and groups that present and promote the performing arts and cultural experiences from a variety of heritages and backgrounds. Community and Social Services include organizations that meet a variety of community needs.

Goals & Priorities

  • Public Safety
    • Public Safety is a critical and primary function of City government. People deserve to be and feel safe in Knoxville. Knoxville is fortunate to have collaborative and forward-thinking leadership in their Police and Fire Departments, as well as at many other local public safety partners. Many non-profit partners play a key role in proactive prevention and effective, innovative response to crises facing local residents.
  • Healthy & Connected Neighborhoods
    • The City invests in Healthy & Connected Communities to help make sure Knoxville is a great place to live – no matter your neighborhood, no matter your income. They work to create a sense of place within their community, and they support diverse and affordable housing options and projects that bring energy and life into neighborhoods. Local non-profits enhance the quality of life in their community; they bring people together to help support each other, find connection, and celebrate their rich culture, history, and art.
  •  Clean & Resilient Future
    • The City focuses on securing a Clean and Resilient Future for Knoxville. They are committed to reducing greenhouse gas emissions for both City operations and the community as a whole. City government leads by example by providing services and infrastructure that are clean, resilient and reduce Knoxville’s environmental impacts. However, all residents and organizations have a role in building a sustainable future. Small, everyday actions add up to help make Knoxville a greener, healthier community.
  • Thriving Businesses & Good Jobs
    • A healthy economy supports a healthy community, and vice versa. The City strives to be a model employer and to support thriving businesses and good jobs for residents. More broadly, through partnerships that advance education and workforce development, the City connects families with opportunities to thrive and help make sure Knoxville remains a great place to work, to invest, to visit, and to raise a family.

Funding Period

July 1, 2023 – June 30, 2024

Eligibility Criteria

Your non-profit organization may apply for a Community Agency Grant if it operates within the City of Knoxville, has been in operation for at least five years, and has current registration as a charitable organization with the Tennessee Secretary of State.
