The fund meets the changing human service and economic development needs and opportunities of the Bogalusa area.
The Fund for Bogalusa was established as a way to enter into partnerships with nonprofit organizations that are committed to and actively involved in building their community through economic development and human services. The Fund believes that communities are strengthened when people see themselves as resources and find successful ways of marshalling their talents and those of local organizations to solve problems. Funds Grant applicants should keep in mind that priority is given to projects that:
- Build on the strengths and assets of individuals, organizations and institutions;
- Involve all relevant people in developing the proposed activities and performing the work for which funding is requested; and
- Address underlying causes, rather than treat symptoms, by seeking to change policiesor institutional arrangements in order to strengthen the community.
Areas of Interest
The Fund provides grants in the following areas of interest:
- Economic Development: The Fund supports programs designed to improve the economic strength of the Bogalusa community and of individuals in the community.
- Human Services: Human problems are varied and complex; they affect every segment of the community. The Fund’s overriding concern, in this area, is to promote community responsibility for the unfulfilled human needs existing in the Bogalusa area and to enable individuals and communities to address those needs.
Eligibility Criteria
The Fund for Bogalusa welcomes grant requests. In order to be eligible for a grant from the Fund for Bogalusa, the requesting organization must be recognized as tax-exempt under Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code; and the program or project to be funded must be located in the Bogalusa area.
