The City seeks applications for a 2-year grant to provide individual and/or group counseling/therapeutic services to referred youth, individuals, and/or families.

Details:

The goal of services is to assist in managing mental, emotional or behavioral challenges that prevent people from functioning in their everyday lives at school, work, and in their communities. Mental health services can be provided to individuals, families and/or groups according to a schedule defined by  the applicant. Applicants must be qualified professionals who meet the minimum State of Illinois Department of Human Services Licensing Requirements to provide therapeutic or counseling services. It is expected that Applicants will utilize clinical consultation. However, qualified individuals who do not have current access are still encouraged to apply.

Needed services include:

  • Individual Counseling
    • Initial Assessment with referred participants either on-site, at another location, or virtually as determined by provider in partnership with case managers
    • Treatment Plan Development that may include: individual therapy sessions, on-site therapy and/or skill-building activities for participants, and consultation with case managers
    • Mental Health Services and behavioral health intervention services that are culturally responsive and based on best practices provided to referred participants
  • Group Counseling
    • Define group size, area of focus and number of sessions/frequency of meetings, meeting schedule and behavior modification strategies
    • Conduct an initial assessment with referred group participants either on-site, at another location, or virtually as determined by provider in partnership with case managers
    • Provide procedures and guidelines for working with the group(s) including rules members must adhere to
    • Use culturally responsive and evidence-based best practices to provide group counseling for a period of time as determined by provider
  • Therapeutic Services
    • Mental health professionals practicing psychotherapy are also encouraged to apply. Psychotherapies can include:
      • Psychoanalytic or psychodynamic therapy
      • Behavioral Therapy
      • Cognitive Therapy
      • Group Therapy
      • Humanistic Therapy
      • Integrative or Holistic Therapy
      • Other culturally responsive therapy

Eligibility Criteria

  • This is a competitive process open to all entities: sole practitioners, non-profit, for-profit, private and public entities.
  • Services can be provided by licensed counselors and/or master’s level interns. Agencies proposing alternative qualifications, student internships, or other staffing that differ from the requirements below, must explain how and why this alternative plan is beneficial for the intended population to be served.
  • Applicants must be able to demonstrate the following:
    • Licensed by the State of Illinois in a mental health professional capacity (LCSW, LCPC, QMHP or a MSW, MHP, LSW, OR LPC working under a licensed LCSW or LCPC). Consideration may also be given to additional mental health professionals including, but not limited to, Certified Recovery Support Specialists (CRSS), Certified Alcohol and Drug Abuse Counselors (CADC), Registered Art Therapists (ATR or ATR-P), Licensed Practitioner of the Healing Arts (LPHA)
    • History of providing proposed services for the past three or more years
    • Use of evidence-based therapies/ counseling services
    • History of incorporating cultural competency into therapeutic/counseling work
  • It is anticipated that Applicants will have access to clinical consultation. However, qualified individuals who do not have current access are still encouraged to apply. The Illinois Administrative Codes and definitions pertaining to mental health professionals apply.
