Details:

Grants are awarded annually to nonprofits for a broad array of charitable purposes in areas such as education, animal welfare, the arts, health, and social services.

The program needs a collective vision, unified measures of achievement, strategies for how to attain success and a way to evaluate progress.

The Coweta Community Foundation knows that together, they can ensure that local good grows now and into the future.

Focus Areas

The Traditional Grant Cycle will focus on two areas: Location of the program participants and area of Focus.

  • Location of the program participants: They will have 3 applications available. Organizations may only apply for one (Newnan, Senoia, Coweta). They highly encourage you to apply for Newnan if you serve any residents within the city limits.
    • If you are applying for operations, and your organization serves 20% of Newnan Citizens. Your annual operations budget is $20,000, you are eligible for $4,000 (20%)
  • Area of Focus: Animal Welfare, Arts, Education, Health & Human Services, Women & Children

Eligibility Criteria

  • Be classified by the U.S. Internal Revenue Service under Section 501(c)(3) of the I.R.S. code as a nonprofit, tax-exempt organization, donations to which are deductible as charitable contributions under Section 170 (c)(2) or have a fiscal sponsor that qualifies as a nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization. I.R.S. determination must be current.
  • Organizations must be located and or providing services in Coweta County, Georgia.
  • Be located or providing services in at least one of the following areas: City of Newnan, City of Senoia, and Coweta County.
  • Be registered with the Georgia Secretary of State as a nonprofit (verify status).
  • Have an independent governing body consisting of at least 3 voting members who are resident volunteers, that has the authority to decide policy and strategic direction with respect to the agency’s programs, administration, and finances, in accordance with the organization’s By-Laws, and who shall meet at least four times per year.  Paid staff must not be a voting member of the Board.
  • Demonstrate financial management – All financial statements must show evidence of accounting principles in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Procedures (GAAP) and include full disclosures and appropriate notes for such things as leases, loans, investments and affiliated party transactions.
  • Based upon the charitable structure of the Fund, grants are limited to 501(c)(3) nonprofit organizations, groups fiscally sponsored by a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, or other charitable organizations able to receive a tax-deductible contribution, such as schools, faith-based organizations, and other public entities. The Foundation does not fund individuals or businesses directly, labor unions, or 501(c)(4), 501(c)(5), and 501(c)(6) organizations.
  • Organizations founded prior to 2019 will be given preference, but all 501 (c) 3 organizations are encouraged to apply.
