The Nareit Foundation is inviting Hawaii nonprofits to submit applications seeking grants this year in support of affordable housing programs.
Donor Name: Nareit Foundation
State: Hawaii
County: All Counties
Type of Grant: Grant
Deadline (mm/dd/yyyy): 07/15/2022
Details:
The Nareit Hawaii Community Giving Initiative will entertain grant proposals from all Hawaii non-profits engaged in charitable causes that contribute to increasing access to affordable housing in Hawaii.
Grants will be announced starting Sept. 1, 2022, and awarded later this year through the Foundation’s Nareit Hawaii Community Giving Initiative. Funding for the grants is provided by donations from REITs operating in Hawaii.
Grant applicants should be implementing projects that provide affordable housing for sale or rent. Grant funds are not intended for planning. Organizations with “shovel-ready” projects or needing to make land purchases for such projects will receive priority.
Eligibility Criteria
To be considered for a local grant, your organization:
- Must be tax-exempt under section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code and not classified as a private foundation.
- Must serve their local community.
- Should be aligned with their funding priorities of supporting local affordable housing non-profits and programs.
The following organizations are generally not eligible for funding:
- Organizations that deny service to a potential client or beneficiary on the basis of race, religion, color, sex, sexual orientation, age, national origin, ancestry, citizenship, veteran, or disability status.
- Political, labor, fraternal organizations, or civic clubs
- Religious organizations (for example, churches and synagogues). Some secular community service programs such as soup kitchens, shelters for the homeless, and job banks are eligible, even when sponsored by religious groups.
