Their goal for the Community Grant program is to fund projects and programs that promote education, encourage conservation/environmental sustainability, and improve local public land access.
Funding Categories
- Promoting Education: Programs that support educational institutions; the advancement of science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM); and training programs for careers in the renewable energy industry fit into this category, including curriculum development, literacy, school readiness, and other initiatives that help students grow into young leaders. Vocational training institutions that help build a skilled workforce are also included here and are encouraged to apply.
- Conservation Efforts and Environmental Sustainability in Buckingham County: These are programs that have a strong link to environmental revitalization or sustainability, empower residents to be stewards of the environment, and/or encourage partnerships to address environmental concerns and sustainability. Participating organizations must have a credible record of success in conservation.
- Public Land Access and Improvements Within Buckingham County: Programs that help improve access to public land for all residents of Buckingham County fall into this category, including improvements for boating, fishing, hunting, hiking, bird-watching, and other recreational land use. Applications should specify a plan to improve access, including a breakdown of associated costs.
