Details:

The foundation is designed to perform good works in Northwestern Lower Michigan. They agreed on five principal pillars of impact within the surrounding communities.

  • Art- to provide access to arts and culture in all its forms, especially to our youth, and ensure that artistic opportunities, programs and events flourish in Northern Michigan.
  • Community Development– to provide recreational, cultural, and special projects that assist our communities to grow and prosper with respect to our natural resources.
  • Education– to provide high quality educational opportunities for all students and to encourage communities to make education a priority for the region.
  • Environment– to provide protection and stewardship of our precious natural resources including watersheds, wetlands, farmland, forest land and the overall protection of the Great Lakes.
  • Health and Human Services– to aid people in need and to have high quality health care available to all communities.

Priorities

Current priorities are Children, Families, and the Environment. Requests should be for projects or programs that will help the organization become more self –sufficient or help with general efficiencies. Foundation is looking for projects that:

  • Include collaboration among local, state, and national partners
  • Show a significant impact on the issue being addressed
  • Have clearly defined results and timelines
  • Create an opportunity for strategic change.

Eligible Applicants

All applicants must be IRS designated 501©3 status. Other non-profit organizations such as schools or units of government are eligible to apply if the project or program is above and beyond general operations. These organizations should contact the Foundation office to see if their project qualifies for submission. The Foundation ONLY serves the general areas of Grand Traverse, Emmet, Charlevoix, Antrim, Benzie and Leelanau Counties.
