Proposals may be for programs that serve individuals, or initiatives that address system-level approaches to increasing reading proficiency among young children (i.e., policy/advocacy, community organizing, data-sharing, multi-sector collaboratives, etc.)
Grant Period
- Awards will be made for the funding period of July 1, 2022, to June 30, 2023.
Eligibility Criteria
- Applicant/fiscal sponsor must be exempt from federal income tax under the Internal Revenue Code, Section 501(c)(3) or have a fiscal sponsor/agent that is exempt;
- Applicant/fiscal sponsor must be a registered nonprofit with the State of Connecticut Department of Consumer Protection Charity Unit and abide by all state laws regulating charities;
- Applicant/fiscal sponsor must serve children, families, and neighborhoods most impacted by systemic racism (Black, Hispanic/Latino, Indigenous, and/or Asian American Pacific Islander) in central and northeastern Connecticut;
- Applicant/fiscal sponsor must affirm UWCNCT Policy of Non-Discrimination.
