Social Justice Partners Los Angeles’ Systems Change Accelerator (California)

Dated: April 8, 2022

The Social Justice Partners Los Angeles is announcing its 2022-23 Systems Accelerator cohort.

Donor Name: Social Justice Partners Los Angeles

State: California

County: Los Angeles (CA)

Type of the Grant: Accelerator

Deadline: 05/10/2022

Details:

They invest in and amplify systems change initiatives working to dismantle oppressive systems and create a liberatory Los Angeles. Systems change work tackles the root causes of pressing social problems, creating change in underlying inequitable structures by shifting policies, processes, resources, and power structures.

Over nine months, the cohort model provides nonprofit leaders the space to grow and deepen connections with peers working towards systemic change, explore liberatory culture frameworks, hone their messaging, and expand their network of supporters. Supporting these foundational elements accelerates an organization’s ability to create systemic community impact.

How it works

  • The Accelerator cohort consists of LA-based nonprofit initiatives led by those with lived experience of the issues they’re tackling.
  • The program focuses on building peer relationships, learning from one another, and growing relationships with the SJPLA community. Their cohort members tackle a wide range of interconnected systemic issues through policy advocacy, narrative and culture shift, and building power.
  • The 2022-23 cohort will present their stories at SJPLA’s 2023 Fast Pitch, pitching their work to hundreds of guests to raise support. Fast Pitch comes at the end of a ten-week training process supported by SJPLA coaches.

Eligibility Criteria

Organizations must meet all of the below criteria in order to be eligible for the Accelerator:

  • Applicants must have a designation from the IRS as a 501(c)3 organization, or proof of fiscal sponsorship.
  • They have a strong preference for LA-based organizations. If you’re part of a national organization or are headquartered elsewhere, you are still invited to apply.
