The Leighton Award for Nonprofit Excellence is designed to:
- Recognize and celebrate the outstanding achievement of a local nonprofit organization
- Attract valuable resources to the award winner to help sustain its strength
- Motivate all charities in community to pursue excellence through the inspiring examples of the winners and the hope of a major award
Funding Information
The award is a $200,000 $2:$1 endowment challenge grant. Recipients must raise $100,000 in matching funds. The resulting $300,000 will be used to create or add to a fund in the Community Foundation of St. Joseph County for the award recipient’s benefit.
Eligibility Criteria
Candidates for the Leighton Award for Nonprofit Excellence must be nonprofit organizations organized and operated for charitable purposes for the benefit of St. Joseph County residents with annual operating budgets under $30 million.
