The Juneau Community Foundation offers the Artist Awards grant program through its Arts Vibrancy Endowment to support artists in creating original works and fostering their creative vision. This program provides financial awards directly to individual artists, groups, or collaborations living in Juneau, Alaska, to help develop their art and share it with the community.
All art forms are eligible, including visual arts, dance, music, fabric arts, photography, theater, and literary arts. Artists at any stage of their career can apply for funding to support specific, short-term projects that benefit their artistic development. Projects might include travel or fees for workshops, professional documentation of artwork for exhibitions, or costs related to creating and installing works for public display. Applicants may also include cost-of-living expenses if clearly connected to achieving project goals.
Grant awards typically range from $2,500 to $5,000. Applicants must be full-time residents of the City and Borough of Juneau for at least two years and remain residents during the grant period. Applicants must be 18 or older and actively producing work. Only one individual may apply on behalf of a group or collaborative, representing the entire team.
Artists are not eligible if they are currently enrolled in an arts degree program, have served on the Juneau Community Foundation’s board or committees, or if their work is primarily research, scholarly, or commercial. Additionally, previous recipients who have received the award within the last two years are ineligible until the required reporting is completed and two years have passed.
The deadline to apply is August 15, 2025.
