The John R. Heerwagen Leadership Award honors exceptional leaders who have made meaningful contributions to their communities and embody innovation and dedication. It is presented by the Middlesex Savings Charitable Foundation and is available to leaders in selected cities and towns across Massachusetts.
This annual award recognizes nonprofit leaders whose work has greatly improved the wellbeing of residents within the Foundation’s community. The award provides a one-time grant of $20,000.
Eligible locations include many towns such as Acton, Ashland, Bedford, Concord, Framingham, Lexington, Newton, Waltham, Worcester, and more. The deadline for applications is August 1, 2025.
The Selection Committee looks for experienced nonprofit leaders who demonstrate strong organizational strategy skills. Ideal nominees are those who create and nurture partnerships that bring tangible community benefits, introduce innovative ideas, build organizational and individual capacity, inspire passion in themselves and others, and uphold the highest standards of integrity and ethical behavior.
