The Cokie Roberts Research Fund for Women’s History will support one to three annual fellowships for emerging and established historians, journalists, authors, or graduate students who perform and publish new research to elevate women’s history using the records held by the National Archives.
Benefits
Benefits of this paid, short-term research fellowship include:
- up to $12,500 for one to three fellowships;
- on-site research training by a National Archives staff archivist;
- meetings with the Archivist of the United States or designee;
- meeting with other National Archives staff related to the research topic;
- being featured in a NARA/NAF public program; and
- being interviewed for a NARA/NAF news article.
Grant Period
The fellowship period will run from August 1, 2026 through August 31, 2027.
Eligibility Criteria
Applicants must be emerging or established historians, journalists, authors, or graduate students with proven writing skills, a demonstrated passion for women’s history, and the ability to perform in-person research at a National Archives facility. Applicants can be based anywhere in the U.S.
