Be Outside, Idaho! is a program to connect Idaho’s youth to the outdoors through a variety of outdoor and environmental education projects and programs.
Be Outside Idaho is a project of the Idaho Recreation and Tourism Initiative (IRTI), a coalition of state and federal agencies and non-profit organizations that collaborate and share resources to encourage youth, their families, and schools to get outdoors, including projects that focus on outdoor recreation and natural resource education. The grants, funded by initiative partners, are awarded to Idaho schools, government entities and non-profit organizations that demonstrate support of the Be Outside Idaho mission and meet the grant program’s criteria.

Maximum amount awarded: $2,500
- This grant operates on a reimbursement basis only.
- Funds will be awarded upon project completion and submission of a fully completed grant report, including photos, that meets all grant requirements by June 2, 2025.
- Be Outside, Idaho does not fund transportation costs, entrance fees, food costs, school tracks/gyms, permanent personnel salaries, or t-shirts/promotional items. While permanent staff cannot be funded through this grant, funding may be allocated for specialized roles that are critical to the project’s success. These include interns, Master Naturalists, and other qualified specialists who will contribute to activities such as research, fieldwork, community engagement, and educational initiatives.
Eligibility Criteria
The grant is open to groups and individuals aimed at getting children outdoors. This includes teachers, librarians, daycare facilities, and more.
