By expanding the capacity of community-based organizations to deeply engage volunteers, they seek to strengthen the fabric of support for newcomers and build an enduring spirit of welcome.
The Welcome Fund will commit a maximum of $1 million to non-resettlement agency (RA) organizations operating in metropolitan areas under 2 million people.
Each award will provide a one-year grant to an organization that actively and deeply engages volunteers to provide services to newcomers who have arrived to the United States in the past two years, principally through U.S. Refugee Admissions Program, sponsorship, and humanitarian pathways. They are looking for organizations that involve community members as volunteers assisting with core resettlement needs, such as English language tutoring, transportation, housing, household/clothing assistance, employment support/upskilling, cultural integration, and childcare.
Funding Information
Grant awards will be between $25,000-50,000.
Eligibility Criteria
- Applicants must:
- Be a 501c3 organization or a project fiscally sponsored by a 501c3 organization
- Have at least two Full Time Equivalent (FTEs), and have raised a minimum of $100,000 in revenue during the last fiscal year or in the last 12 months
- Engage community members as volunteers in the direct work of welcoming newcomers, with the goal of repeat engagement. Examples of volunteer roles may include ongoing mentorship, tutoring, facilitation, coaching, training, etc.
- Operate in a metro area of less than 2 million people.
- Priority will be given to organizations that demonstrate collaborative efforts across community sectors, including faith-based groups, civic organizations, businesses, and local government.
