LEF seeks proposals for programs that are intentionally designed to be culturally relevant and build upon the strengths of the Latine community. Proposals should focus on one or more of the following areas:
- Housing Equity
- Affordable Housing Initiatives: Programs that increase the availability of affordable housing units for Latine families.
- Housing Stability Services: Services that support Latine families in maintaining stable housing, including eviction prevention and financial counseling.
- Homeownership Programs: Initiatives that provide education, resources, and support to help Latine families achieve homeownership.
- Leadership and Advocacy: Efforts to empower Latine leaders to drive housing policy reforms and engage in community organizing to address housing issues.
- Educational Equity
- Early Childhood Education: Programs that prepare Latine children for success through culturally relevant early childhood education.
- K-12 Academic Support: Initiatives that provide tutoring, mentoring, and other academic support services to Latine students.
- Higher Education Access: Programs that assist Latine students in accessing and succeeding in postsecondary education, including college readiness and scholarship support.
- Leadership and Advocacy: Programs that develop leadership skills in Latine students and parents to advocate for educational equity and policy changes.
- Linguistic Justice
- Language Access Services: Programs that provide translation and interpretation services to ensure Latine community members can access essential services and information in their preferred language.
- Bilingual Education: Initiatives that support bilingual education programs in schools, promoting literacy and academic success in both English and Spanish.
- Language Preservation: Projects that celebrate and preserve the linguistic heritage of the Latine community, including cultural programs and language classes.
- Leadership and Advocacy: Efforts to promote linguistic justice through community organizing, policy advocacy, and the development of Latine leaders in this field.
Priority will be given to proposals submitted in collaboration between grassroots organizations. They are particularly interested in targeted interventions that might affect a smaller group more deeply, creating significant and lasting impact.
Funding Information
This competitive grant opportunity will award a total of $75,000 through one-year grants ranging from $20,000 to $40,000.
Eligibility Criteria
Eligible organizations must have a Latine executive director (or equivalent) or be applying for funding for a program led by a Latine program director (or equivalent). Eligibility is restricted to organizations that serve Latino/a residents within the Foundation’s 29-town region.
