Funding Information
For 2024, the Regional Water Implementation Grant will provide up to a maximum of $1,000,000. The 50 percent match can come from local funds or in combination with funds from the KDHE Regional PWS Planning Grant Program.
Qualifying Projects
Funding from this programs helps to promote collaboration and consolidation of water systems throughout Kansas. Eligible expenses include:
- Projects that will result in system consolidation where two or more systems merge, resulting in one public water supply system with a single governing body.
- Projects that result in the creation or expansion of a Public Wholesale Water Supply District.
- Projects that benefit a minimum of two public water supply systems and must be primary systems not currently connected.
Eligibility Criteria
All incorporated cities or counties in Kansas that do not receive an annual CDBG entitlement allocation from HUD are eligible to apply to the Kansas CDBG program. (The following communities receive entitlements and are ineligible to participate in the state program: Kansas City, Lawrence, Leavenworth, Manhattan, Overland Park, Topeka, Wichita, and all of Johnson County). A city or county will be deemed ineligible if it has an open CDBG project that needs a time extension, or if the open project has exceeded the original contract end date.
