The bioprocessing industry continues to grow. With continued investments and expansions in infrastructure, Illinois has the existing industry, feed stock, and talented workforce to be a global leader in this market.
Purpose of this Program
- Invest in capital projects that increase bioprocessing company development in Illinois
- Increase undergraduate student training opportunities in bioprocessing in Illinois
- Increase short course offerings for existing industry workers in bioprocessing in Illinois
Funding Information
- Total amount of funding expected to be awarded through this NOFO is $10,000,000. Awards will range from $5,000,000 to $10,000,000.
- Anticipated start date for awards is October 5, 2024. The period of performance is expected to be October 5, 2024 through September 30, 2029.

- Educational Organizations
- Non-profit Organizations
Eligible entities include eligible applicants that also meet the following guidelines:
- Proposed project must have been previously selected for partial funding by the U.S. Economic Development Administration’s Regional Technology and Innovation Hubs (Tech Hubs) program.
- Applicant must be located in Urbana, IL.
