Community gardens transform how people eat and live in community by connecting people with each other and to where their food comes from. Community gardens are where neighbors grow food for themselves and others, share knowledge on healthy food and lifestyles, heal and enrich the urban ecosystems, and strengthen their sense of pride in their communities. To maintain and sustain these important spaces, it requires time, sweat, cooperation, coordination, and resources.
The 2025 Community Garden Grants offer direct support to help metro Atlanta community gardens thrive. Through this year’s community garden grant offerings, Food Well seeks to deploy $110,000 in direct funding via two categories of support:
- Garden Improvement Grant: This is a $1,500 grant seeks to help community gardens address infrastructure, supply, and material needs to keep their gardens thriving. Food Well will target reaching 60 community gardens in 2025 with this grant.
- Garden Forward Grant: This is a larger grant aimed at helping community gardens move forward with a larger project that will help their garden thrive. The Garden Forward Grant is for $10,000, and Food Well will target reaching two community gardens with this larger grant in 2025.
