Details:
Through CSP State Entity grants, the Department awards grants on a competitive basis to State entities that, in turn, award subgrants to eligible applicants for the purpose of opening new charter schools and replicating and expanding high- quality charter schools.
This program provides financial assistance to State entities to support charter schools that serve elementary and secondary school students in States with a State statute specifically authorizing the establishment of charter schools. Charter schools receiving funds under this program may also serve students in early childhood education programs or postsecondary students.
Funding Information
- Estimated Range of Awards: $2,000,000 to $20,000,000 per year.
- Estimated Average Size of Awards: $9,000,000 per year.
Grant Period
Up to 60 months.
Eligibility Criteria
State entities with a State statute specifically authorizing the establishment of charter schools are eligible to apply. “State entity” means–a) A State educational agency; b) A State charter school board; c) A Governor of a State; or d) A charter school support organization.
