The Women’s Bureau is now accepting applications for its 2025 Women in Apprenticeship and Nontraditional Occupations (WANTO) Technical Assistance Grant Program. This opportunity is open to organizations across all U.S. states, counties, and territories including American Samoa, Guam, Puerto Rico, Northern Mariana Islands, and the U.S. Virgin Islands.
The program aims to provide technical assistance to employers and labor unions to promote the employment of women in apprenticeable and nontraditional occupations. It supports developing or enhancing pre-apprenticeship, youth apprenticeship, Registered Apprenticeship, or other skills training programs tailored for women. Additionally, it focuses on providing orientations and resources to create supportive environments for women in these fields. The program also encourages the establishment of support groups, networks, and services to help improve women’s retention in these occupations.
Estimated total funding for the program is $5 million, with individual awards ranging from $350,000 to $750,000. The grant period is 24 months, beginning around September 30, 2025, covering all start-up and implementation activities.
Eligible applicants include nonprofits with or without 501(c)(3) status, excluding institutions of higher education. This grant is a prime chance to advance gender equity in skilled trades and nontraditional careers through strategic technical assistance and support.
