All grants must align with one of the three pillars of the YQCA program:
- Food Safety
- Animal Well-Being
- Character Development.
Funding Information
- Total Funding Available: $20,000 yearly
- Individual Grant Awards: Ranging from $500 to $5,000, based on project needs as assessed from the application.
Eligible Project Examples
- Youth-focused educational events or activities
- Two-day or multi-day events, such as:
- Hands-on workshops with YQCA (Youth for the Quality Care of Animals) certification opportunities
- Youth certification camps featuring hands-on learning stations
- Biosecurity Training for Youth
- Developing innovative educational materials for youth agriculture programs
- Educational event at Livestock Show
- Livestock Judging Contests/Clinics
- Enhancing livestock facilities
- Instructor professional development activities aimed at engaging youth, such as:
- Training instructors to become certified YQCA facilitators
- Presenting YQCA training sessions at a conference.
Eligibility Criteria
- Youth Agricultural Programs such as:
- Junior Breed Associations
- State Species Organizations
- Local, County, State or National Show Organizations.
- All grants must align with the following:
- Provide a peer-reviewed, quality curriculum for youth quality assurance training and certification
- Ensure the safety and well-being of animals raised by youth for showing or agricultural projects
- Promote a safe food supply for consumers
- Educate youth to become informed producers, consumers, and employees in the agricultural industry
- Support effective quality assurance education by maximizing limited resources for state and national youth program leaders.
