The City of Iowa City is now accepting applications for its Non-Legacy Aid to Agencies Grant, aimed at supporting nonprofits that serve low- to moderate-income residents.
This funding opportunity offers flexible operational support to 501(c)(3) nonprofits that have not previously received Legacy Aid to Agencies funding from the city. Eligible applicants must be in good standing and focus their work within Iowa City.
To qualify, proposals must address one of the city’s identified community priorities, which include homeless and shelter services, food insecurity, healthcare (including mental and behavioral health), childcare and youth services, housing stability, and transportation.
Priority will also be given to organizations serving high-barrier populations, such as immigrants and refugees, elderly individuals, people with disabilities, and survivors of domestic violence.
The city expects to allocate approximately $30,000 in total funding for the FY26 Non-Legacy round. Organizations may apply for up to $15,000, with a minimum grant award of $5,000.
Applications are due by July 16, 2025. Income limits for program eligibility are based on HUD guidelines for low to moderate income in Iowa City.
